The UK Government and politicians are opposing diesel cars for the general public, but wants to enjoy the low-cost benefits of diesel-engine themselves.

The recent VW diesel has sparked severe anger and hate towards diesel. The vehicle-owners who had bought diesel in order to enjoy the benefits of fuel efficiency of diesel-engines are afraid now because politicians are urging to ban-diesel which is off course sad for them.

Why Ban-diesel for general public only?

Mike Rutherford, the leading columnist and critic in the UK argued that the politicians are against the diesel-owners and find them annoying but they use diesel-vehicles for themselves. The automotive critics argue that the diesel-engine is a good choice for the mid to large size family vehicles in comparison with the petrol options.

That segment of consumers has invested their hard earned money, but their beliefs are badly shaken now. The UK government needs to tighten the emission laws and standards instead of banning-diesel.

Is Anti-Diesel Movement myth or reality?

The independent observers say that the VW diesel scam has given a new life to the dead anti-diesel movement. It was observed that there was a strong presence of anti-diesel sentiments during the period of conservative/liberal democrats’ coalition government.

But these were the dark realties of that time. On contrary many believe that the anti-diesel movement will net get a new blood in the UK.

What is actually happening in Government circles?

Politicians and other officials are opposing diesel-engine vehicles, but in reality their love for diesel engine is not hidden from the general public. The British Government’s Environment Agency has bought fifty five SUV’s from the US auto-mobile manufacturer and all with diesel engines.

The message is clear and loud that the diesel is right for the government officials and politicians, but not for the public. The extreme example of double standards and hypocrisy of the government that must be condemned at all levels.
