2015 Ford Mustang 50 Anniversary

Ford Mustang 50 Year Limited Edition debuts at New York International Auto Show and just 1,964 vehicles of which will be built for 2015

The American Muscle, Ford Mustang was introduced 50 years ago and again this week at the New York International Auto Show. To rejoice the symbolic horse car’s birthday, Ford is launching a 2015 Mustang 50-Year Limited Edition, only 1,964 examples will be manufactured. The 50-year limited edition model debuts at New York International Auto Show this week, and is expected to hit the market this fall.

Ford has announced that the special edition will be based on the 2015 Mustang GT fastback and its performance and colours are the focus point. It will exclusively be available in two colours: Kona blue and Wimbledon white. It is a nod to the first-ever built Mustang with Serial No. 0001. Capt. Stanley Tucker was the man who bought the first ever Ford Mustang back in April of 1964. The 50-year special edition Mustang will be powered by the specially upgraded 5.0-litre V8 Ford engine which would generate the power of 420 horses and 390 lb-ft of torque. The special edition Mustang is declared as a part of the 2015 Mustang GT performance pack, so it is obvious that the special edition car will be equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels covered in Y-speed-rated Pirelli P-Zero summer tyres along with large six-piston Brembo front brakes.

“American Muscle fans love to drive their cars, even the uncommon examples of the breed, so we manufacture this limited edition from the best performing 2015 Mustang. It would be the GT fastback with the performance pack,” said Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer. “While some collectors will certainly hoard this car away in a museum, those who choose to hit the open road will get a world-class sports car that can run with the best.”

“50 years ago when the project was granted permission for development, I don’t think that anybody would believed that their model would go that longer in the automobile industry and could spawn a fanatical base of fans around the world and it is still in production today,” said Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Co. “We are delighted to be here in New York, where the first ever premier of Mustang was at the 1964 World’s Fair and we are here to re-create that historic event for today’s Mustang enthusiasts.”

The 50th birthday of Mustang will be amid the first put up when the 2015 Mustang production starts this fall, but we are not sure about the prices because they still are announced.
