Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II is a very passionate car buyer, at the same time, she is very sensitive about vehicles meeting her unique requirements. Range Rover has been serving the Royal fleet for quite some time now, so they again took the challenge to bring something that meets Her Majesty’s requirements.
As per Her Majesty’s unique and specific needs, Range Rover has built a new “State Review” Range Rover hybrid which made its debut recently. This new State Review vehicle is based on the long-wheelbase Range Rover and to let the queen review things better, it offers a roof opening.
It is powered by a diesel hybrid powertrain, the specifications of which have not been made public by Range Rover. The non-royal version comes with a 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 Range Rover engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with an electric motor. When combined, it is capable of producing 336 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
In standard guise, Range Rover hybrid takes 6.9 seconds for a 0-60 mph sprint until it reaches 135 mph, its top speed. Our guess is that this State Review Range Rover would take a bit longer than the standard versions.
Range Rover has no plans of selling Range Rover hybrid to this part of the globe, but no worries as at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, a non-hybrid diesel model made its debut. It has not been confirmed when the sales will start.
Cadillacs and Lincolns are the primary choice of U.S. Secret Service as presidential limos, but the Royal Family always prefer Land Rover. This is the fourth State Review Vehicle from Range Rover specially made for the Queen. It started providing vehicles in 1953 with Series I and has now reached Range Rover Hybrid, the fourth State Review Vehicle from the company.
